Amani works as a Program Manager for Christian Horizons in Toronto and has been with the agency since April 2007.

Over the past 10 years, Amani has had the opportunity to work in the field of developmental disabilities, and on the frontlines of a variety of social service settings, providing support to persons with disabilities. He has worked within these settings, because of his commitment to serving the community, and his passion to find social justice solutions for the most vulnerable and marginalized populations. Amani strives to make a difference for those who, otherwise, may struggle, and as a result, he has been nominated for the following Awards:

David Onley Award, recognizing outstanding leadership and commitment in supporting awareness of accessibility and disability issues.

Canada’s Volunteer Awards, recognizing the outstanding contributions of individual volunteer in helping communities across the country.

Amani holds a Master’s Degree in Leadership Studies from the University of Guelph where his Major Research Project focused on people with disabilities in the workforce achieved an outstanding grade and has been deemed meritorious and suitable for expansion at the doctoral level. He is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Toronto in Leadership, Higher and Adult Education and has published numerous scholarly papers related to employment for persons with disabilities in International Journal of Case Method Research &Application (IJCRA).

Amani has acquired a global mindset with his experience as a speaker at several HIV/AIDS International conferences. During his travels he has picked up 4 languages (English, French, Swahili and Kinyarwanda) and an interest in Portuguese. He resides with his wife and 2 children in North York, Ontario.
