Come and learn about the important role that Educators, Practitioners, Community Service Providers, and Families play in the lives of young people with disabilities to support their dreams and desires for employment.
Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board and Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board Special Education Advisory Committees (SEAC) have invited Ontario Disability Employment Network (ODEN) to provide a presentation around employment for people with disabilities.
This presentation will outline the foundations for creating an environment where competitive employment is seen as a viable possibility and the natural progression for people who have disabilities once they leave the school system, similar to their peers without a disability.
ODEN’s presentation will include examples of after school jobs, coops in non-segregated settings and the importance of starting career planning at a young age, all critical to successful attachment to the labour force.
